Seeking God, the secret to a fulfilled life

I have not read a book on spirituality this penetrating in a long time. “I believe,” Frangipane writes, “that the real goal of Christianity is not to create a religion about God but that we would actually know Him...” (ix,x)
That is how he starts his book on seeking God. Frangipane believes that pursuing God is the secret to a fulfilled life. The highest form of seeking God is not when we do it because we need something from Him but when we seek Him for Himself. This might mean forsaking television and the Internet. It may mean setting aside hours, yes hours, each day.
Frangipane writes that when we seek God, He will come. He deals with the possibility of spiritual warfare and the hindrances that will occur. He explores the necessity of setting priorities and breaking our passivity. He reminds us of the essential role of worship. He writes about honesty as the root of humility, the essential characteristic leading to prayer and an increasing access to God.
I'm a life long Christian and I found this section particularly interesting. “Ultimately we will discover that study and church attendance are but forms that have little satisfaction in and of themselves. These activities must become what the Lord has ordained them to be: means through which we seek and find God.” (79) He reminds us that we often content ourselves with a religion about Christ, with studying facts about God. He draws a revealing parallel, comparing reading about sunrises to actually experiencing one.
If your heart longs to know God, if you are willing to choose to live for one purpose – to give pleasure to God – this book is for you. If you have come to the place of realizing that bringing gratification to the heart of God, not self gratification, is the key to lasting happiness, this book is for you.
One might think that reading a book about being called to such a devoted life of knowing and pleasing God would be depressing. But it is not. Yes, it is a challenging book but it is also a freeing one. Frangipane encourages us to love God in whatever state we find ourselves. That is remarkably freeing. Wherever you are in your Christian walk, this book will help you understand what it means to seek God and live a truly fulfilled life.

To seek and find God is everything

Francis Frangipane has been writing about the key to finding God for 27 years. In essence, Frangipane has been writing "I Will Be Found By You" his entire life, at least he says he feels that way. Fifteen of the twenty-five chapters were originally published in other books. His main focus is demonstrating how only one thing is required to find God and that is, to seek Him. In this four-part book, he takes us into the Tent of Meeting to find God's glory, brings us into intimacy with Christ, leads us into our greatest pursuit and demonstrates how to become a true worshiper.
Sometimes we make finding God difficult--as if He is playing hide-and-seek with His people. Or, we get lost in the details of theology, or we only seek God in the midst of chaos and crisis. The truth to finding God is in the seeking. Pastor Frangipane's use of simple language and biblical examples mixed with personal experience teach us how to prepare our hearts and minds for finding God. His unique perspective on biblical stories will leave you hungry for God.
"I Will Be Found By You" should be included on everyone's list of books to read. If you are seeking God, He will be found. Pastor Frangipane will help you reconnect with God.

I Will Be Found By You is proof that the size of a book doesn't determine how profound its impact will be. For anyone like me who tends to think of serious books as being lengthy, please don't overlook this slight volume.
This book is about the God that wants to be found, and the people whom He has called to seek Him.
This seeking is at once sacred and simple.... sacred because this is God Himself we are approaching, simple because we may all speak to Him.
It is difficult to be so human and yet a child of God at the same time.
We fall, we fail, we flounder.
We knock, and when a door opens sometimes we are afraid to step inside.
We try to discern what the meanings are and where God is leading us, but sometimes all we know is that we don't know yet.
Sometimes we come out of a dry period with a clear lesson to hang onto.
Sometimes it isn't that easy to pin down a lesson or a reason.
The only thing that may comfort a seeker who's in the darkness is the promise that no life experience is wasted. God is with you and working in you in everything. He promised it is so.
The idea of seeking God can so quickly turn into a checklist of things to do, and although those things are very valuable, they aren't ends unto themselves.
Devotional time is a time to get to Know Somebody.
It's so easy to forget that there is a Real, Living, Loving Person who misses us and wants to hear from us. He wants to hear cares, prayers, praises, songs, outpourings of whatever. Prayer is pouring our your heart like water before the Lord, and knowing that He hears.
