A wonderful biblically based read!

Every once in awhile there's a book that makes me simply say, "Wow!" Grace is NOT A Get Out of Hell Free Card by Steve Foss is such a book.
First of all, I must say that I believe in the grace and mercy of God but I'm of a more conservative grace view. Meaning I have never felt that the blood that Jesus shed on that old cross was to be taken lightly.
I was taught that grace is for every one who will believe that Jesus is the true Savior and His death on the cross brought that grace to me. {the cross is not to be taken lightly, for Jesus brought us life through His death.}
Thus, having prefaced my review with the above thoughts I must say that I totally agree with Steve Foss. And on page 3, Mr. Foss states, "Grace doesn't release us from the responsibility to live godly. It empowers us to live godly." This one statement pretty much sums up the whole idea of this message.
This is a great read for all! Grace is a wonderful gift! And Mr. Foss gives many verses and life changing aspects to increase your love for living for Jesus!

Encouragement to live a godly life

“Although grace is the way of salvation,” Foss writes, “it is not a license to live without accountability.” (3) Grace does not release us from the responsibility to lead a godly life – it empowers us to do so. But we have to decide to do that and fight the battle in the mind.
Foss defines grace: “Grace is the undeserved, unearned favor of God that gives us access to the power of God for everything we need for life and godliness.” (29) It is not to be confused with mercy. “Mercy is when we are released from the judgment we deserve.” (32)
Based on 2 Peter 1:2-3, Foss says we must seek out revelation (knowledge) so that grace is multiplied to us. As we gain more revelation, we have access to the secrets in the deep and intimate knowledge of God. While we can gain some of this on our own, he says, God has given us apostles, prophets, etc., to reveal that knowledge. Using the tabernacle as a model, he explains how we enter into the secret place of God.
This is a good book for charismatic Christians, an encouragement to press on and live the godly life God desires. I really appreciated his teaching on the role of the law in this era of grace. He has good teaching on humility too. I also appreciated his balanced teaching on prosperity and poverty.
Foss' message is an important one for us today. God has given us grace so that we can have access to Him and live the life He desires of us. Reading this book will help you do that.

EXCELLENT BOOK ON TRUE BIBLICAL GRACE

This book went well beyond my expectations. If you really want to understand TRUE biblical grace - then I urge you to read this book. Don't be fooled by the modern day grace message many preach today. Dr. Michael L. Brown's book, "Hyper-Grace" does an excellent job of refuting each point of the modern day grace message. Steve Foss' book doesn't refute each and every point, but presents the true, unadulterated view of what grace really is. A "must read!"
